2018 Price Benowitz Make a Difference Winner – Sharon Drueen

Sharon is a returning student who is pursuing her Masters in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Credential. After 20 years of working with children, she decided that there was no time like the present to go back and get her Masters. She attends California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock, California. On top of all of the wonderful things, she intends on doing with her career in counseling she is going to be a grandmother soon! “Thank you for believing in me. I am honored to have won this scholarship. I know that going back to school after such a long time makes me the atypical student so I am that much more thankful to be given the opportunity. I am the oldest one in all my classes but I’m also the most experienced which has it’s own merits. I love being back in school and I am thoroughly enjoying what I am learning. I’m in my third semester now and have a 4.0. It’s not easy but I am so glad that I did it. Winning this scholarship helps offset the high costs of going back to school and I truly appreciate it.”
