Meet Matthew Wilson
Matthew Wilson, Esq. knows how difficult it can be if you find yourself facing serious criminal charges or are targeted by a government investigation. Mr. Wilson has spent his entire career fighting for the rights of those caught in the crosshairs of the criminal justice system. His criminal defense practice combines an intimate understanding of the law and extensive trial experience with a deep passion for client service.
Education and Experience
After graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center, Matthew Wilson joined the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) in Prince George’s County, Maryland. As an attorney with the OPD, Mr. Wilson represented thousands of clients facing all manner of criminal charges, including assault, drug possession and distribution, armed robbery, DUIs, gun charges, prostitution, domestic violence, burglary, sexual assault, and auto theft.
Mr. Wilson not only developed a deep understanding of the law during this time, but also learned how to use the law and rules of procedure to his client’s benefit. In nearly a hundred bench and jury trials, he earned a reputation as a skilled and tenacious advocate.
During law school, Matthew spent two terms interning with the United State’s Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC. While there, he worked alongside federal prosecutors on both Federal and local cases in the National Security Division and Felony-Major Crimes Division, respectively. As a result, Mr. Wilson gained valuable insight into the government’s approach to prosecution.
Philosophy and Approach
Mr. Wilson’s service to his clients does not begin and end at the courtroom door. He is a relentless advocate who will pursue every available option to obtain the best possible outcome for his client. Many times, this may involve not going to trial. Mr. Wilson is sensitive to the unique needs and concerns of each client.
In every case, the attorney-client relationship must be built on trust, and good communication is critical to building that trust. Matthew keeps each client updated on the status of their case, so that they can be confident that they are receiving the best and most attentive representation.

Mr. Wilson earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Duke University, where he was a varsity athlete and member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. He lives in northern Virginia with his wife and two daughters.
